Balatro
This isn't something I played much of, or plan on playing much of, but I wanna talk about the bit I did play anyways. I decided to check it out after the Don't Starve themed face cards were released in an update (since I like Don't Starve). The game's fun, I can see why some people get so into it.
One thing I was a worried about before playing was that I might be lost if I didn't know poker rules. Turns out, I was only a little lost. In one of the pause menus the game lists poker hands, and that alone helps a ton. I totally skimmed over that menu during the tutorial though and didn't know about it for a couple of runs.
I've heard people say that poker skills matter less the further you get into runs, and yeah that seems to be true. On the tutorial run for example, I stacked my deck with a ton of 7's which made picking hands pretty simple.
My biggest issue with this game by far is some of the highlighted text. In particular, I've struggled quite a bit to read yellow colored text. An accessibility option for that would be nice.
One thing I think this game has nailed from what I've played so far is the difficulty. It's pretty easy to win a run, but to make it far in the Endless mode that's available at the end of runs is pretty hard. It's been pretty successful at making me feel both accomplished and challenged.
