This is a pretty interesting arcady puzzle game. Unfortunately though, I thought it got pretty old pretty fast. The Story mode only takes like 2 hours to complete both stories, and the endless mode is legitimately just too easy to hold my attention for long.
What's happened every time I've played the Endless mode so far is that I would actively try for like 20 minutes, but then I'd just stop trying once I realized the difficulty scaling had mostly capped out. When I say I stopped trying, I mean I would literally just sit still and wait for the enemies to drive out all my tenants. What really solidifies this game as easy to me though is just how long it takes for the enemies to drive out residents. My first time playing, after giving up I waited over an hour and a half before I got impatient and decided to actively sabotage myself just to end the run. Thankfully, actively failing doesn't take as long.
From what I've observed, there's a ton of things that really hold the enemies back once your building is tall enough.
- The enemies cap out at a maximum of 7.
- As far as I know, all the bosses from the Story mode just don't spawn.
- Enemies really like to spawn near the player.
- Enemies oftentimes don't like to travel very far vertically from their rooms.
- Some of the enemies decide to just stay in their rooms for really long stretches of time.
For example, there's this one enemy I noticed that was close to my tenants, but just stayed in their room for over a decade (in game-time).This all adds up to sitting still and mashing the skip time button being an extremely powerful strategy, because you end up passively luring enemies away from your tenants. Perhaps the game would work better if you imposed a maximum amount of time you could wait before adding a new tenant or something, so I could see myself coming back to the Endless mode. Completing Story mode missions in as few weeks as possible could also be interesting.
