The Super Mario Bros Movie

Okay, so first of all, WHAT THE FUCK!!! Spike really was there!!!! Why haven't I seen people talk about this??!! It's the most mind-blowing thing I've seen in years!!!!!
Anyways, it was a pretty fun movie.
I'm a little surprised that they went with the Brooklyn premise. I'm glad they did though. I like that premise for Mario.
Overall, I think did a pretty good job at adapting a bunch of Mario stuff into a film.
I wasn't a fan of how Luigi was put into the damsel in distress role since he didn't really get to do a whole lot. I guess does work better as a motivator for Mario when compared to Peach.
Honestly, I thought Chris Pratt did a decent job as Mario.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Toad. He had some moderately funny moments I guess, but overall I don't think he added much. That Luma that was in the cage though, that thing actively subtracted from my enjoyment of the movie. I probably would've found him funny when I was younger though.
I liked how the Kongs were really into go-karts.
Baby Mario and Luigi were a really weird addition though. I feel they just didn't fit in.
I think some improvements could've been made to Mario. I felt like he didn't really grow as much from start to end as he should've. Any time he said "mama mia" it sounded out of place. I'm glad he at didn't hook up with Peach by the end since their romantic chemistry felt pretty weak.
Random side note, I liked the part where Mario and Luigi both do Mario's forward-air from Melee.
Lastly, I wanna talk about the animation and the music. The animation was really nice. The movie looked very pretty, and watching the characters move around and do parkour and stuff was pretty cool. I don't really care that much about Mario music, so I was pretty indifferent to hearing a bunch of remixes of Mario songs. I thought some of the pop-music choices were odd though.
